Shwetansh Dhar: The Indian Flag Runner

Shwetansh Dhar is a dedicated runner, cyclist, and fitness enthusiast from New Delhi, widely recognized as the Indian Flag Runner. By profession, he is a board member of the T10 Cricket Association India. However, his journey to becoming a fitness icon wasn’t always a smooth one.

Before embarking on his fitness journey, Shwetansh led a very different life. He managed a club in Dubai, where smoking and daily drinking were regular parts of his routine. This lifestyle took a toll on his health—he felt lethargic, unmotivated, and eventually struggled with issues like high blood pressure and breathing difficulties. At one point, his weight exceeded 90 kilograms, and he knew it was time to make a change.

In 2018-2019, Shwetansh took the first steps toward transforming his life. He realized that consistency was the key to success. With determination, he adopted a balanced diet, incorporated regular workouts, and made running and cycling integral parts of his lifestyle. It wasn’t easy at first—he could barely run a kilometer without stopping several times. But he remained committed, pushing through the challenges that came with the journey.

Today, Shwetansh has become a symbol of perseverance and dedication. Running has not only improved his health but also brought him recognition, friendships, and a sense of pride. The running community has embraced him, and he is proud to call himself a runner.

Over the years, Shwetansh has achieved remarkable milestones. He has completed one 100K run in 2020, three 50K runs, 12 full marathons, over 70 half marathons, 30+ 10K runs, and one 6-hour stadium run. As a cyclist, he has participated in a 130K ride, five 100K rides, and more than 20 50K rides.

Shwetansh’s dedication doesn’t stop there. He has been an ambassador at 15 prestigious events and a pacer at 16 races. His passion for running has even taken him beyond India, where he has participated internationally in 10K, 21K, and full marathons. To date, he has run a total of 7,130 kilometers over the course of 6 years.

For Shwetansh, running is more than just a sport—it’s a lifestyle, a source of strength, and a gateway to an incredible community of like-minded individuals. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the belief that anyone can achieve greatness with consistency and commitment.
