Sumit Hiralal Dwivedi: Running Towards Dreams and Beyond

For Sumit Hiralal Dwivedi, running is not just a sport; it’s a purpose, a passion, and a pathway to realizing his dreams. Born into a life of financial challenges, Sumit found solace and strength in athletics—a journey that began in his school years and took flight in December 2019 when he committed himself to long-distance running.

The Beginning of a Dream

During his school days, Sumit actively participated in sports like kabaddi, rugby, and athletics. However, a minor injury in his early years forced him to rethink his path. By the end of 2019, he found himself drawn to running—a sport that required minimal resources but immense willpower. Motivated by his dream of serving the nation as a member of the Indian Army, Sumit embraced running as a way to discipline his body and mind.

It wasn’t an easy start. Financial struggles weighed heavily on him, but inspiration came from those around him. Watching Gagan Khatri sir run at a nearby ground lit a spark in Sumit, showing him the potential of hard work and perseverance. When he later met Anil Korvi sir, their stories of triumph fueled his determination to chase his goals relentlessly.

With Gagan sir’s guidance, Sumit found not just a mentor but a pillar of strength who shaped his training and instilled in him the resilience to overcome challenges.

Setbacks and Comebacks

In 2021, Sumit faced one of the toughest challenges of his journey—a knee injury that temporarily halted his progress. Yet, true to his character, he didn’t let this setback define him. With grit and determination, he recovered quickly and returned stronger, resuming his training and adding more miles to his journey.
